Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C.
Amount: $45,000.00
Scope: Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. (Tectonic) will provide the necessary staff, materials and equipment to schedule and perform materials testing and special inspections services at Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, Saunders Trades and Technical High School, and School 16 for CIP 10875, 10936, and 10952.
Overview:
To assign Tectonic under their existing “On-Call” Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services Contract No. 2022-0364. Services will be performed on time and material basis as per their contract hourly rates and unit prices for environmental testing.
CIP 10875 “Part 2 - Roof, Heating Plant & Window Replacement and Interior Upgrades” at Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy and has a total project cost (including soft costs) of $6.3 million. Project scope of work includes but is not limited to curtain wall window replacement, roof replacement, HVAC upgrades for Main Office Suite and Cafeteria, ADA upgrades to select toilet rooms and window AC upgrades for all classrooms. Tectonic will provide these services at a not to exceed fee of $25,000.
CIP 10936 “Part 1 – Replacement of Windows & Artificial Turf Field” at Saunders Trades and Technical High School. Scope of work includes but is not limited to replacement of the school’s artificial turf field and walking track and repairs to the concrete bleachers. The project cost is estimated at $1 million and is scheduled for summer to fall of 2024. Tectonic will provide these services at a not to exceed fee of $7,500.
CIP 10952 “Emergency Drain Restoration” at School 16. Scope of work includes replacement of existing stone retaining wall vestibules at the exterior exits from the School 16 gym and classrooms, waterproofing of all foundation walls and footing drain improvements. This project cost is estimated at $500,000 and is scheduled for summer of 2024. Tectonic will provide these services at a not to exceed fee of $12,500.
This RFP was only issued to Tectonic due to the Consultant’s history, knowledge of the schools and competitive rates already proposed under their Contract issued for RFQ-435. |

WHEREAS via Resolution 18.15 dated July 21, 2021, the Board of Education authorized the award of an “On-Call” Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services Contract No. 2022-0364 to Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. in response to District RFQ435 for an amount not to exceed $500,000, and
WHEREAS Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services are required for three specific capital projects:
CIP 10875 “Part 2 - Roof, Heating Plant & Window Replacement and Interior Upgrades” at Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy
CIP 10936 “Part 1 – Replacement of Windows & Artificial Turf Field” at Saunders Trades and Technical High School
CIP 10952 “Emergency Drain Restoration” at School 16
WHEREAS the response by Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. to a request for proposal to provide such services was acceptable at a not to exceed cost of $45,000.00 for CIP 10875, 10936 and 10952.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to assign Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. to the task of providing “On-Call” Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services for Capital Projects 10875, 10936, and 10952 at a cost not to exceed $45,000.00. |
