Teaching Matters

Amount: $56,000
Scope: A Literacy Expert from Teaching Matters, Inc. will provide onsite support to teachers at the Barack Obama School for Social Justice and Museum 25 teachers for the purpose of improving student outcomes. To achieve this goal, the coach will support:
• Teachers to establish methods and instructional practices that create curriculum cohesion for ELA instruction.
• Students by helping teachers develop lessons with increased academic rigor which will help to close the opportunity gap.
• Teachers to build an operational understanding of Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education principles that align with ELA instruction. |

Resolution
|
WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Teaching Matters to purchase consulting services support to provide onsite support coaching Barack Obama School for Social Justice, and School 25 teachers to build effective, rigorous practices into lessons, with the goal of improving outcomes for students school year,
WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Teaching Matters a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,
WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Teaching Matters to provide these services, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Teaching Matters at a cost not to exceed $56,000. |
