Term: October 2024 – August 2025 Amount:$462,187 Scope: This collaboration involves Westchester Community College (WCC) and the Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) working together to provide activities for Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH), Smart Scholars and Extended School Day/ School Violence Prevention Program students are given the opportunity to earn college level credits while attending high school. Additionally, P-TECH teachers will have the chance to engage in professional learning communities with Westchester Community College academic faculty to align their courses with the college's degree programs. This collaboration involves the following schools: Saunders Trades and Technical, Charles E. Gorton High School, Riverside High School, Roosevelt High School – Early College Studies, Barack Obama School for Social Justice, and Yonkers Montessori Academy. The goal is to align curricula, learning targets and improves student outcomes for participating high schools. |

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Westchester Community College to purchase consulting services to support students to earn college credits while attending high school and enables P-TECH teachers to engage in professional development exchanges with WCC faculty to align their courses with the college's degree programs. The collaboration involves several high schools, including Saunders Trades and Technical, Charles E. Gorton High School, Riverside High School, Roosevelt High School – Early College Studies, Barack Obama School for Social Justice, and Yonkers Montessori Academy, with the goal of aligning curricula and learning goals between the college and the participating high schools for the 2024 – 2025 school year, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Westchester Community College a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and, WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Westchester Community College to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Westchester Community College at a cost not to exceed $462,187 |
