Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS)
Term: November 2024- August 2025
Amount: $43,400
Scope: Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) will implement a program under the 21st Century Grant, featuring 36 groups over an 18-week period, with one hour of preparation for each activity. The sessions will include contributions from MSW specialists, BA Peer Specialists, and supervision by a Licensed Clinician. Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) will offer professional development sessions funded by the McKinney-Vento Grant, aimed at deepening staff understanding of trauma-related behaviors to support the creation of Trauma-Informed Schools. Participants districtwide will delve into the benefits of mindfulness, participate in practical self-regulation exercises, and investigate the connections between trauma, mindfulness, and self-care.

Resolution
WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) to purchase consulting services to support students at the Ella Fitzgerald Academy by providing social emotional learning groups with a focus on mindfulness, interpersonal skills, anxiety management and improved self-esteem and offer professional development sessions funded by the McKinney-Vento Grant, aimed at deepening staff understanding of trauma-related behaviors to support the creation of Trauma-Informed Schools or the 2024-2025 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) at a cost not to exceed $43,400. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
