WHEREAS a proposal has been submitted to the President of the Board of Education to dedicate a tree at Roosevelt High School Early College Studies in memory of Maria DeChent, and
WHEREAS Maria DeChent was raised in Yonkers by her beloved parents, who immigrated from Italy; she married Mr. Edward DeChent, Principal of Roosevelt High School Early College Studies, and raised their 3 children in both Yonkers and Putnam County, and
WHEREAS Maria DeChent made invaluable contributions to the greater Yonkers Community especially related to charities associated with Breast Cancer Awareness , and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: the Trustees have reviewed and affirm that the request meets the criteria set forth in Policy 7500 - Naming and Dedicating School District Property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Education dedicates a tree at Roosevelt High School Early College Studies in memory of Maria DeChent to honor her service and exemplary contributions to the community. |
