Scope: The Mentoring in Medicine Health Science Academy offers the Charles E. Gorton High School, medical magnet PTECH (New York State Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools) students the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive program. This program is designed to introduce students to essential medical terminology, academic skills, and career pathways in the field of biomedical professions. Students will engage in hands-on activities such as the Comparative Anatomy Analysis Dissection, where they will gain insights into the musculoskeletal and circulatory systems through the dissection of a specimen. Additionally, the Comparative Anatomy Analysis Dissection allows students to explore human anatomy by examining animal organs. These engaging programs provide valuable opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of health sciences.

Resolution
WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. to purchase consulting services to support introducing students to medical terminology, academic skills, and biomedical career pathways, through activities that include a comparative anatomy analysis dissection to explore human anatomy, for the 2024 – 2025 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. at a cost not to exceed $4,000.00.
