RATIONALE FOR RESOLUTION:
This is a yearly resolution as required by Chapter 243 of the Laws of the State of New York, which stipulates that the Board of Education of each school district shall establish a Committee on Preschool Special Education.

WHEREAS Chapter 243 of the Laws of the State of New York, became effective July 1, 1989 and stipulates that the Board of Education of each school district shall establish a Committee on Preschool Special Education, and
WHEREAS the Board of Education is desirous of promulgating rules and regulations in compliance with such law.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Yonkers Board District Committee on Preschool Special Education be established as required by law:
• an appropriate professional employed by the district;
• a parent of a child with a disability (preschool/elementary) not employed by the district, or municipality;
• a professional who participated in the evaluation of the child;
• a certified or licensed professional designated by the agency charged with the responsibility for the child in the birth-to-two system, if any; and
• the county may appoint a certified or licensed professional to the CPSE.
