Mercy University Amount: $18,031.68 Scope: Mercy University is partnering with Yonkers Public Schools in a SAGE in STEM project (Support, Access, Growth, Experience) funded by the USED Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program. This funding will support professional development for 24 teachers in grades 3-5, intended to strengthen pedagogical practices in math classrooms in these grades.

WHEREAS Mercy University has agreed to donate $18,031.68 to the Yonkers Public Schools to support professional development for teachers of math in grades 3-5, during the 2023-2024 school year, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Mercy University a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and, WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy University to donate these funds, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy University to accept their donation of $18,031.68. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
