Amount: $2,300
Scope: Original Resolution 25.3 (BOE Approved 4-21-21 BOCS) approval pending with original amount of $20,000. We are amending resolution by increasing it by $2,300 and to add to the scope of services. Empowering Creative Minds LLC will provide services to support Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) in achieving its goals to promote proficiency in World Languages in accordance with New York State guidelines. Creation of thematic unit lessons, virtual learning sessions and the student portfolio guide are proactive steps in preparing for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. The services provided will scaffold the transition (for teachers and students) to the approved New York State World Language Standards with their emphasis on the modes of communication as well as cultural perspectives. The total contract amount will be $22,300.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Empowering Creative Minds LLC will provide services to support Yonkers Public Schools (YPS) in achieving its goals to promote proficiency in World Languages in accordance with New York State guidelines. Creation of thematic unit lessons, virtual learning sessions and the student portfolio guide are proactive steps in preparing for the 2021–2022 academic year and design and publish a monthly newsletter for the Yonkers TRLE Service Center (YTSC). The services provided will scaffold the transition (for teachers and students) to the approved New York State World Language Standards with their emphasis on the modes of communication as well as cultural perspectives for the 2020-2021 school year, newsletter is one of several project activities to support schools and school communities in addressing the challenges associated with the changing educational environment in response to the pandemic.

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Empowering a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Empowering Minds to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Empowering Creative Minds LLC at a cost not to exceed $22,300.

It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation
