Rationale:
|
Whereas, on September 7, 2020, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into Law Chapter 168 of the Laws of 2020 that requires public employers, including school districts, to adopt a continuation of operation plans in the event that the governor declares a public health emergency involving communicable disease. The legislation – S.8617-B/ A amends subdivision 2 of §2801-a of New York State Education Law to that District Safety Plans include protocols responding to a declared public health emergency involving a communicable disease. Plans are to be established and adopted by April 1, 2021.

Whereas a draft of the Pandemic Plan was posted on the District website for public comment on February 15, 2021; the required thirty-day period for public comment has expired and a public hearing was held on March 9, 2021.
Whereas the Board of Education wishes to adopt the 2020-2021 Pandemic Planning Addendum to the Emergency Response Plan/Districtwide School Safety Plan.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Yonkers Board of Education hereby adopts the Pandemic Planning Addendum to the 2020-2021 Emergency Response Plan/Districtwide School Safety Plan.
