Rationale: Change Order 1 for Capital Contract 2019 0743 CIP 10819 “Improvements to Gym Complex, Roof, Exterior Door Replacement & Security Electrical Upgrades” at Saunders High School to Fran Corp (d/b/a All Bright Electric) for the amount of $34,735.05, increasing the total contract amount to $399,735.05 with no term extension.

A change order is a written agreement between the District and its contractor to change a building construction contract. They add to, delete from, or otherwise alter the work and/or progress schedule in the contract bid documents. CO’s are caused by any of three situations that can arise on a project: unforeseen conditions, design errors, omissions, and owner directed extra work.

This change order is for owner directed additional work performed at negotiated lump sum prices. Principally for: upgraded (vandal proof) quality and increased quantity of emergency exit lights (40) for $45,794.25, and increased cameras and door access for security issues at $16,190.10. Miscellaneous outlets and light fixtures for $2,750.40.

The total net cost of all extra work is $64,735.05, less $30,000.00 in allowance for owner directed work for a total change order of $34,735.05

Resolution: Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: via Resolution 21.5 dated March 20, 2019 the Board authorized the award of Contract 2019-0743 CIP 10819 “Improvements to Gym Complex, Roof, Exterior Door Replacement and Security Electrical Upgrades” at Saunders High School to All Bright Electric (Fran Corp) amount of $305,000.00, and

WHEREAS: Via Resolution 21.20 dated June 19, 2019 the Board authorized the revision of the award to include all bid alternates revising the total amount to $365,000.00, and

WHEREAS: in the course of construction it was deemed in the best interest of the District to upgrade and increase emergency lighting, security features and miscellaneous lighting and outlets at the negotiated lump sum prices in the amount of $34,735.05 increasing the contract amount to $399,735.05 with no change in term.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to issue Change Order 1 to Contract 2019-0743 “Improvements to Gym Complex, Roof, Exterior Door Replacement and Security Electrical Upgrades” at Saunders Trades & Technical High School to Fran Corp (d/b/a All Bright Electric), 100 Snake Hill Road, West Nyack, NY 10994, for the amount of $34,735.05, increasing the total contract amount to $399,735.05 with no term extension.
