Rationale:
|
By Board Resolution Item 17.20 dated July 20, 2022 the Board of Trustees authorized the award of contract for Asbestos Abatement at Ella Fitzgerald Academy (Formerly Scholastic Academy for Academic Excellence) to NSC Abatement Services for $34,000.00 and 180 calendar days.
The field change order was issued to abate the asbestos containing tiles in the lobby area near the auditorium which was disturbed during the abatement process. The lobby area abatement was part of the alternate bid but not considered for abatement because the total cost was above the estimated price. NSC had the lowest price of all the bidders for the alternate which was $5,000.00.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: By Board Resolution Item 17.20 dated July 20, 2022 the Board of Trustees authorized the award of contract for Asbestos Abatement at Ella Fitzgerald Academy (Formerly Scholastic Academy for Academic Excellence) to NSC Abatement Services for $34,000.00 and 180 calendar days.
WHEREAS: in the course of executing the contracted work it was determined that additional work was required to be performed, and
WHEREAS: the fee for this added work is for the lumps sum price to complete the project in the amount of $5,000.00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to approve change order 1 for Asbestos Abatement at Ella Fitzgerald Academy (Formerly Scholastic Academy for Academic Excellence) to NSC Abatement Services, 122 E. Third St, Mount Vernon, NY 10550 increasing the contract from $34,000.00 to $39,000.00 with no change in term.
