Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this was let for public bids which were opened in public and read aloud on March 5, 2021. A total of three (3) bids were received, with the highest bidder at $589,667 with an average of $493,988. The work was designed by Eisenbach & Ruhnke Engineering PC (E&R) and was estimated to be approximately $875,000.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, their bids were found to be correct, confirmed references, and a successful history with the District, E&R along with this Department is recommending the award of the subject contract to S&L Plumbing & Heating Corp.
CONTRACT 4 of 5, Plumbing Work includes but is not limited the demolition and renovation of the bathroom fixtures throughout the building, plumbing work for the two new ADA bathrooms and modification to the existing sprinkler system as required.
Overall, CIP 10874 includes the renovation of 23 restrooms, creation of two new unisex ADA units, upgrades to interior finishes (wall board), new ceilings in the kitchen, select window restoration, provision of “Places of Refuge” in stairwells, new Hi Tech Security system, select exterior & interior door replacements and new signage. Site work includes the installation of fire egress sidewalks and stairway for the north end of the building. This area is to be lighted with battery electric provided by solar and wind turbine power pole lighting. The project budget is $5.1 million.

WHEREAS: in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 public bids opened on March 5, 2021 for RFB 6583 Contract 4 of 5 Plumbing Construction, CIP10874 “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, and
WHEREAS: three (3) bids were received and read aloud in public, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result the administration has determined that S&L Plumbing & Heating Corp., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $333,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Contract RFB 6583, Contract 4/5 Plumbing Construction CIP10874, “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, to S&L Plumbing & Heating Corp., 56 Lafayette Ave., Suite 380, White Plains, NY 10603 for $333,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
