Resolution: Ladies and Gentlemen:

WHEREAS, at its October 14, 1986 meeting, the Rotary Club of East Yonkers Board of Directors did develop and institute a Leadership In Education Award to be designated annually to an outstanding administrator in the Yonkers Public Schools, who has demonstrated a consistent commitment to quality education and community service, and

WHEREAS, in 2002 Michael G. Walpole began his career in Yonkers as a special education teacher, at Museum Middle School; then advancing to assistant principal at the Enrico Fermi School.

In 2010, Mr. Walpole was promoted to principal and in 2014 Mr. Walpole joined the School 23 community where for over 9 years he has tirelessly advocated for both his staff and students ensuring that the entire School 23 community is respected, valued, and embraced for their vibrance and diversity;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education extends sincere appreciation and congratulations to Michael G. Walpole, who continues to serve with distinction for over 20 years in the Yonkers Public Schools;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Education joins with the Rotary Club of East Yonkers in presenting the 2021-2022 Leadership In Education Award to Michael G. Walpole.
