Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into contract as described above. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on July 10, 2020. Nine bids were opened and examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, bids were found to be correct Premier Group Inc (Premier) was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. School Facilities Management, Engineer and Construction Manager are recommending the award of the subject contract to Premier.
The scope of CIP10891 includes new ceilings and LED lights in the cafeteria as well as the hallways and stairwells on all floors of the cafeteria & library sections of the building.
CIP10891 also includes the replacement of deteriorated and problematic heating supply & return piping. This underground piping runs outside the building between the auto-shop boiler room and the library wing section of the building.
The work was designed by Eisenbach & Ruhnke Engineering, P.C. and the original project scope has been expanded to include the ceilings and lights in the library section of the building. The current budget is $1.4 million up from $0.5 million due to the added scope and a revised engineer’s estimate for the pipe replacement work.

WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on July 10, 2020 in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 for Bid No. 6527 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work, CIP10891 “Replacement of Ceilings, Lights & Heating Plant Site Piping” at the Roosevelt High School, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted, the administration has determined that Premier Group Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $875,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. 6527 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work, CIP10891 “Replacement of Ceilings, Lights & Heating Plant Site Piping” at the Roosevelt High School to Premier Group Inc., 306 A Capitol Street, Saddle Brook, NJ, 07663 in an amount not to exceed $875,000 for a term of 486 calendar days.
