Scope: A Literacy Expert from Teaching Matters, Inc. will provide on site support coaching at five (5) PreK-8 schools to teachers to build effective, rigorous practices into lessons, with the goal of improving outcomes for students. To achieve this goal, the coach will support:
•Teachers to establish methods and instructional practices that create curriculum cohesion for ELA instruction.
•Students to experience and be exposed to increased academic rigor, elevating their academic expectations.
•Teachers to build an operational understanding of Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education principles that align with ELA instruction.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Teaching Matters, Inc to purchase consulting services to support five (5) Prek-8 schools by providing on site literacy coaching for the 2023-2024 school year,

WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Teaching Matters, Inc a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,

WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Teaching Matters, Inc to provide these services, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Teaching Matters, Inc at a cost not to exceed $117,300.00
