Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this was let for public bids which were opened in public and read aloud on March 5, 2021. A total of three (3) bids were received, with the highest bidder at $397,678 with an average of $292,559; this included the only alternate. The work was designed by Eisenbach & Ruhnke Engineering PC (E&R) and was estimated to be approximately $270,000.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, their bids were found to be correct and confirmed references, E&R along with this Department is recommending the award of the subject contract to ACS Systems Associates, Inc."
CONTRACT 2 of 5, HVAC Construction work includes but is not limited to providing the HVAC modifications required for the bathroom renovations, provide one new bathroom exhaust fan and provide new ductwork for the penthouse air handling unit to improve safety.
Overall, CIP 10874 includes the renovation of 23 restrooms, creation of two new unisex ADA units, upgrades to interior finishes (wall board), new ceilings in the kitchen, select window restoration, provision of “Places of Refuge” in stairwells, new Hi Tech Security system, select exterior & interior door replacements and new signage. Site work includes the installation of fire egress sidewalks and stairway for the north end of the building. This area is to be lighted with battery electric provided by solar and wind turbine power pole lighting. The project budget is $5.1 million.

WHEREAS: in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 public bids opened on March 5, 2021 for RFB 6583 Contract 2 of 5 HVAC Construction, CIP10874 “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, and
WHEREAS: three (3) bids were received and read aloud in public, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result the administration has determined that ACS Systems Associates, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $214,000.00 including one alternate.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Contract RFB 6583, Contract 2/5 HVAC Construction CIP10874, “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, to ACS Systems Associates, Inc, 160 W. Lincoln Ave., Mt. Vernon, NY 10550 for $214,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
