To request that the Civil Service Commission approve a Section 55-a waiver for Employee ID: Individual Named in A55 Waiver Request

Resolution:
|
WHEREAS, Section 55-a of the New York State Civil Service Law allows a qualified person with a certified physical and/or mental disability to be hired into competitive civil service positions without having to take an exam; and
WHEREAS, the Yonkers Public Schools has continued to diversify its workforce and has adopted policies setting clear expectations for the promulgation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the School District; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education believes it to be in the best interests of the School District that Employee ID # Individual Named in A55 Waiver Request be granted a Section 55-a waiver so as to allow Employee ID# Individual Named in A55 Waiver Request to be hired into the position of Clerk I without having to take a competitive civil service examination;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education requests and urges that the City of Yonkers Civil Service Commission consider and approve the Section 55-a waiver so as to allow Employee ID# Individual Named in A55 Waiver Request
to be hired into the competitive civil service position of Clerk I without having to take an exam; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Schools and those under his direction are authorized to take all steps necessary to effectuate the Section 55-a waiver.
