Resolution:

WHEREAS a proposal has been submitted to the President of the Board of Education to name the Gymnasium at the Enrico Fermi School, and
WHEREAS Maria Hadala, a lifelong Yonkers resident was a Physical Education Teacher for twenty-nine years in the Yonkers Public School District, the last twenty-eight years at Enrico Fermi School.
WHEREAS Maria Hadala received recognitions for her work with children being named the 2014 Teacher of the Year by City of Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Maria was named Yonkers Public Schools Bowling Coach of the year in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
WHEREAS Maria Hadala made invaluable contributions to the Enrico Fermi School and the community. She consistently sought to meet and serve the needs of all students and staff with whom she worked and to ensure that every child received an equal opportunity to succeed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Yonkers Board of Education honors and recognizes Maria Hadala for a lifetime of service to the youth of the Yonkers Public Schools; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Education names the gymnasium at the Enrico Fermi School "The Maria Hadala Gymnasium" in memory of Maria Hadala and her exemplary contributions to the Enrico Fermi students, Teachers, Staff and for her lifelong dedication to the students at the Enrico Fermi School.
