Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, The Yonkers Kiwanis Club, Yonkers Board of Education Trustees and Mayor Mike Spano jointly sponsored the City's 2021-2022 Yonkers Public Schools Teachers of the Year Awards. Established by the Yonkers Kiwanis Club and the Board of Education in 1954, followed by the Board’s adoption of the Teacher Hall of Fame on July 13, 1978, the award celebrates Yonkers teachers who further excellence in education.
WHEREAS Sunitha Howard has been selected as Middle School Teacher of the Year 2021 - 2022 and shall be permanently honored in the Teacher Hall of Fame of the Yonkers City School District, and
WHEREAS Sunitha Howard has displayed an exemplary dedication to the education of middle school students in the Yonkers Public Schools for 17 years;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Sunitha Howard, an outstanding educator and professional, a mentor and friend to both students and colleagues, be permanently honored as Middle School Teacher of the Year 2021-2022;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That it is with great pleasure that the Board of Education of the City of Yonkers joins the Kiwanis Club of Yonkers and Mayor Mike Spano in bestowing this honor on a truly dedicated teacher who works both in and out of the classroom to support high quality education for the children of Yonkers:
