Mount Vernon School District has requested the Yonkers Board of Education’s permission to piggyback off the Yonkers Public Schools’ existing contract with VP Buses LLC.

Resolution:

Whereas Mount Vernon City School District seeks to Piggyback off of Yonkers Public Schools transportation contract, from February 26, 2024, to June 30, 2024, with VP Buses LLC via contract number 2023-0000048, at the daily rate $631.35, per RFP459.
Whereas The Mount Vernon City School District recognizes the urgent need for reliable transportation services amidst a challenging bus driver shortage. This shortage has significantly impacted the ability of its transportation vendors, All County Bus and First Student, to fulfill all requested routes, particularly those serving vital community organizations such as Quality Services for the Autism Community (QSAC) located at 300 Jerome Avenue, Bronx NY10468.
Whereas the current bus driver shortage has affected Mount Vernon transportation vendors' (All County Bus and First Student) ability to service all requested routes.
Whereas neither bus vendor can provide transportation to Quality Services For the Autism Community (QSAC), located at 300 Jerome Avenue, Bronx NY 10468.
Whereas the Board of Education is committed to ensuring that all who qualify for transportation have access to transportation services.
BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Board of Education authorizes Mount Vernon City School District to enter into a Piggyback contract with VP Buses LLC, from February 26, 2024, to June 30, 2024, at the daily rate of $631.35 with VP Bus LLC (NYSED Contract# E277622; YPS Contract 2023-000048) to provide transportation to QSAC.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract agreement is with VP Bus, and all invoice payments will be made to them and that no monies will be owed to Yonkers Public Schools.
