Amount: $19,254.00
Scope: Mercy University is partnering with Yonkers Public Schools in a SAGE in STEM project (Support, Access, Growth, Experience) funded by the USED Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program. This funding will support professional development for 24 teachers in grades 3-5, intended to strengthen pedagogical practices in math classrooms in these grades.

WHEREAS the donor, Mercy University has agreed to donate $19,254.00 to Yonkers Public Schools to support professional development for teachers of math in grades 3-5, during the 2024-2025 school year,
WHEREAS The district administration has designed in conjunction with Mercy University School of Liberal Arts a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and,
WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Mercy University School of Liberal Arts to donate these funds, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to allocate the donated funds ($19,254.00) toward advancing professional development initiatives.
