Prekindergarten Student Authentic Assessment - Work Sampling System Term: July 2021 – June 30, 2022 Fiscal Year Amount: $18,681.25 The Work Sampling System is a method of authentic performance assessment for prekindergarten students. The system is structured around seven domains: Personal and Social Development; Language and Literacy; Mathematical Thinking; Scientific Thinking; Social Studies; The Arts; Physical Development and Health. Teachers use the system to describe appropriate expectations for students, document observations of students as they perform routine activities, and document child’s strengths and needs. WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with NCS Pearson, Inc. to implement The Work Sampling System in all pre-k classrooms in the 2021-2022 school year. The Work Sampling Online will provide robust data management for documenting observations, completing checklists, summary reports, generating aggregate reports at the classroom, school, district and program level. Teachers use the system to describe appropriate expectations for students, document observations of students as they perform routine activities, and document child’s strengths and needs, WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with NCS Pearson, Inc. a program which meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with NCS Pearson, Inc. to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with The Work Sampling System at a cost not to exceed $18,681.25. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
