WHEREAS the Yonkers Kiwanis Club, Yonkers Board of Education Trustees, and Mayor Mike Spano jointly sponsor the City’s 2024–2025 Yonkers Public Schools Teacher of the Year Awards. Established by the Yonkers Kiwanis Club and the Board of Education in 1954, followed by the Board’s adoption of the Teacher Hall of Fame on July 13, 1978, the award celebrates Yonkers teachers who further excellence in education; and
WHEREAS Jessica Marie O’Neill has been selected as the Elementary School Teacher of the Year 2024–2025 and shall be permanently honored in the Teacher Hall of Fame of the Yonkers City School District; and
WHEREAS Jessica O’Neill has displayed exemplary dedication to the students of Las Hermanas Mirabal Community School and to the Yonkers Public Schools community for over two decades;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That Jessica Marie O’Neill, an outstanding educator, mentor, and professional, be permanently honored as Elementary School Teacher of the Year 2024–2025;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That it is with great pleasure the Board of Education of the City of Yonkers joins the Kiwanis Club of Yonkers and Mayor Mike Spano in bestowing this honor on a truly devoted teacher who has fostered a love for learning and community in the hearts of her students: Jessica Marie O’Neill.
