Rationale:
|
Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D. Term: September 2023-June 2024 Amount: $20,000 Scope:To support the Yonkers Public Schools MLLs’ Literacy through the Arts program. This service will provide select teachers and students with hands-on workshops to introduce them to the genre of poetry, to afford MLLs, at the Expanding stage to opportunity to write and share poetry as an SEL practice. This will help MLLs transition to more structured writing, including across content areas, to teach students, in particular how to analyze metaphoric language structures. This will be accomplished by giving hands-on workshops and coaching to students and teachers. A needs assessment of target population will be given as a pre and post test analysis.

WHEREAS the Board of Education wishes to enter into a contract with Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D., For Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D. To support the Yonkers Public Schools MLLs’ Literacy through the Arts program. WHEREAS the district administration has designed in conjunction with Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D. a meets the objectives set forth by the Board and the New York State Education Department, and, WHEREAS the Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D. to provide these services, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to enter into an agreement with Brett Elizabeth Blake, Ph.D. at a cost not to exceed $20,000. It is acknowledged and agreed that pursuant to the terms of that certain intermunicipal agreement by and between the City of Yonkers Board of Education (“BOE”) and the City of Yonkers (the “City”) as filed in the Office of the City Clerk on June 16, 2014, the terms of this agreement are subject to review and revision by the Corporation Counsel, as well as approval by the City’s Board of Contract and Supply. Furthermore, this Agreement shall not be enforceable until signed by both parties and approved by the Corporation Counsel’s Office.
