Rationale: This is to award the construction contract for CIP 10952 “Emergency Flood Remediation Work” at School 16 to Paladino Concrete Solutions for $120,000.00 and a term of 365 calendar days.

An emergency declaration for “School 16 Flooding” was issued by the Superintendent on August 11, 2022 to replace failed structures that have caused flooding to rooms 10 and 12. All work is complete.

Under an Emergency Declaration, procurement of goods and services can be made directly to the best available vendor. In this case Paladino was selected because they are already under Contract 2022-0777, “2022 Public Right of Way Improvements” with the City and being used by the Board of Education in a piggyback manner. The cost of this work is per those contract bid prices.

Scope of work is to include but is not necessarily limited to removal and replacement of existing stairs and drainage basins in areaway exit from classrooms 12 and 14, replacement of concrete slab and drainage basin at areaway from classroom 10, installation of new catch basin in parking area, new asphalt to facilitate for proper grading and drainage to new basin, and removal and replacement of interior corridor slab at basement corridor to replace damage under slab piping. The construction is estimated at $120,000.00.

Resolution: Ladies and Gentlemen:

WHEREAS: The City of Yonkers has standing Contract 2022-0777 “2022 Public Right of Way Improvements” with Paladino Concrete Creations Corp. that provide services for the performance of this work under bid unit prices, and

WHEREAS: By Resolution 17.16 dated August 17, 2022 the Board of Education authorized the District to “piggyback" onto said contract, and

WHEREAS: Work as described in said contract is required of Paladino Concrete Creations in response to the issuance of the Emergency Declaration for “School 16 Flooding” dated August 11, 2022, and

WHEREAS: Using unit bid prices and the terms and conditions of City Contract 2022-0777 “2022 Public Right of Way Improvements” Paladino Concrete Creations Corp. has agreed to complete the work for $120,000.00 and 365 calendar days.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to award a contract for CIP 10952 “Emergency Flood Remediation Work” at School 16 to Paladino Concrete Solutions, 315 N. MacQuesten Parkway, Mount Vernon, NY, 10530 in the amount of $120,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days
