Rationale: This is to authorize the award of a general fund purchase order for the rental of four (4) Cargo Vans (3/4 T GAS LOW ROOF) and one (1) 15’ Box Truck for an amount not to exceed $55,000.00 for a term of 180 calendar days.

An emergency declaration for “Vehicle Rental” was issued by the Superintendent of Schools on September 12, 2022 to replace the following Fleet Vehicles:

• 1999 Ford Cargo Van
• 2000 Chevrolet Cargo Van
• 2001 Chevrolet Cargo Van
• 2004 GMC Cargo Van
• 2000 GMC Box Truck

The above fleet vehicles are of varying ages and disrepair. They are all beyond their useful lives and capabilities.

Resolution: Ladies and Gentlemen:

WHEREAS, The District desires to maintain its fleet of vehicles, ensuring that they are safe and serviceable at all times, and

WHEREAS, the District identified 5 vehicles that are to be replaced, and

WHEREAS, the District has placed an order for replacement vehicles in February 2021, due to chip shortage and other supply chain issues no vehicles have been delivered to date, the new anticipated delivery is tentative for early 2023, and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the award for the purchase order for the rental of four (4) Cargo Vans (3/4 T GAS LOW ROOF) and one (1) 15’ Box Truck to HERC RENTALS, 49 Wesley Street, South Hackensack, NJ 07606 for an amount not to exceed $55,000.00 for a term of 180 calendar days.
