Rationale:
|
The District received the DASNY SAM Grant 22643 “Upgrades to the Yonkers Middle High School Gymnasium” in the amount of $500,000.00. This was sponsored by Assemblyman Nader Sayegh.
The scope of work includes the replacement of the gym bleachers and the locker rooms’ lockers & benches.
The bleacher work was funded via Resolution 15.6 dated September 22, 2021 for $320,000.00 and was completed in the Summer of 2021 for $276,555.64. The locker room work is to be funded for construction costs in the amount of $213,444.36 increasing the total funding to $490,000.00. All grant funded.
Change Order 1 is for $170,000.00 for the installation of new lockers and completion of the work proposed under the Grant.
The lockers are being purchased by Nickerson Corporation, certified dealer of Art Metal Products in the State of New York, using Southern Westchester BOCES Furniture, Storage & Athletic Equipment contract, 2021-22-C10.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: By Resolution 23.19 dated April 21, 2021 the Trustees of the Board of Education authorized the acceptance of a New York State Economic Development Assistance Program Grant (SAM Grant 22643) in the amount of $500,000.00 for “Upgrades to the Yonkers Middle High School Gymnasium”, and
WHEREAS: By Resolution 15.6 dated September 22, 2021 the Trustees of the Board of Education authorized the award of grant funding for CIP10911 “Replace Gym Lockers and Bleachers” at Yonkers Middle High School to Nickerson Corporation for $320,000.00, and a term to 365 days, and
WHEREAS: Said work to replace the bleachers has been completed for $276,554.64, and
WHEREAS: The replacement of the locker rooms lockers is ready for construction in the amount of $213,444.36, and
WHEREAS: Change Order 1 for $170,000.00 is required to increase the funding for this work from $320,000.00 to $490,000.00 and extend the term to 1,275 calendar days.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Superintendent of Schools is authorized to issue Change Order1 on CIP10911, “Replace Gym Lockers and Bleachers” at Yonkers Middle High School” to Nickerson Corporation, 11 Moffitt Boulevard, Bay Shore, NY 11706 for $170,000.00, increasing the contract amount from $320,000.00 to $490,000.00 and extending the term to 1275 calender days.
