Amount: $12,092.00
Scope: General Construction contract work for Emergency Roof (Fresh Air intake Vent) repairs at the Charles E. Gorton High School. Work includes the removal of the damaged roof vent to their shop, providing temporary cover of the roof openings and returning the vent to the school and re-installing it up on the roof with a crane.
Overview:
The damaged roof vent was discovered near the Auto shop days after it was blown off the roof by the storm on April 7, 2024. Milcon Construction Corp, Inc. was called to secure the roof opening left by the vent, evaluate the damages and to remove the damaged vent to their metal shop for repairs. Then they covered the roof openings to prevent water from entering the building while they repaired the damaged duct. Due to the urgency of making these repairs an Emergency Declaration was prepared and approved by the Superintendent of Schools.

Resolution:

WHEREAS an Emergency was declared on May 1, 2024 in order to fast track the repairs so as to prevent additional water damages, and
WHEREAS Milcon Construction Corp, Inc. (Milcon) was called in to make the repairs and stop the water from entering the building, and
WHEREAS Milcon was able to immediately respond to the school and provide an estimate for this work in the amount of $12,092.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to award Emergency General Construction Work, for the repairs to the rooftop vent at the Charles E. Gorton High School to Milcon Construction Corp, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $12,092.00 for a term of 180 calendar days.
