WHEREAS, The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has awarded Yonkers City School District a grant for the Stronger Connections Grant (SCG) in the total of $3,600,000,
WHEREAS, The Stronger Connections Grant program aims to support the Yonkers City School District’s goal to establish safer and healthier learning environments in schools and to prevent and respond to acts of bullying, violence, and hate that impact our school communities at individual and systemic levels. Yonkers Public Schools aims to achieve this with the assistance of partners such as St. Joseph’s Hospital who will provide mental health, dental, vision and primary care services to students. As well as Bridge the Break to provide social emotional needs to the community and ensure counselors are using evidence-informed interventions, in effort to help achieve our goal of addressing the academic needs as well as social emotional needs of S.I.F.E. students, and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Board of Education hereby accepts the award of $3,600,000 to Yonkers Public Schools.
