Rationale:
|
A change order is a written agreement between the District and its contractor to change a building construction contract. They add to, delete from, or otherwise alter the work and/or progress schedule in the contract bid documents. CO’s are caused by any of three situations that can arise on a project: unforeseen conditions, design errors, omissions, and owner directed extra work.
Additional work was required for unforeseen conditions including removal of 585.59 tons of contaminated soil at the unit contract price of $150/ton, added concrete work and additional soil tests.
The total net cost of all extra work is for $98,834.78 less credits of $39,830.00 for work specified in the bid but not necessary to perform for a total change order of $59,004.78.

Ladies and Gentlemen;
WHEREAS: via resolution 15.7, at the Board of Trustees stated meeting on February 26, 2020 contract 2020-00000326 was recommended for award to Luzon Environmental Services
WHEREAS: in the course of executing the contracted work it was determined that additional work is required to be performed to complete the project in the amount of $59,004.78,
Increasing the contract amount from $277,285.63 to $336,290.41. And
WHEREAS: the contract requires an extension, extending the contract for an additional 180 days for completing final closeout and payments.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to issue Change order 1 to contract No. 2020-00000326, “ Emergency Removal and Replacement of the Heating Oil Tank” at Roosevelt High School to Luzon Oil Company, Inc., P.O Box 1070, Woodridge NJ, 12789 in the amount of $59,004.78, increasing the contract amount from $277,285.63 to $336,290.41 and extending the contract for an additional 180 days.
