Scope: The General Construction includes:
-Montessori School 27 CIP 10953: replacement of select corridor acoustical ceilings, restoration of the main entrance interior finishes and replacing select corridor smoke control doors to meet new fire code requirements for the total bid amount of $337,000.
-Kahlil Gibran School 28 CIP 10954: did not include general construction work.
-Westchester Hills School 29 CIP 10955: replacing select corridor smoke control doors to meet new fire code requirements for the total bid amount of $75,000.
-Paideia School 15 CIP 10956: replace gym floor and exterior doors, replace damaged wall pads, and restoration of sheetrock soffits for the total bid amount of $473,808.
Overview:
In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, bids were let and opened in public on May 3, 2024. Three (3) bids were received and reviewed. The apparent first low bidder, RK Best Construction, Inc., was deemed a non-responsive bidder by the Architect, Construction Manager and School Facilities Management as the bidder missed specific scope of work in their bid in order to complete the work. The second low bidder was Abbott & Price, Inc. with a bid of $885,808. The bids were duly examined and all due diligence observed in determining that Abbott & Price, Inc. is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The work was designed by Fuller & D’Angelo Architects. The highest bid was $916,500.

WHEREAS bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on May 3, 2024 in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 for Bid No. 7116A General Construction Contract 1, for the “Building Upgrades – Part 2 of Playgrounds & Select Building Upgrades” at Montessori School 27, Kahlil Gibran School, Westchester Hills School 29 and Paideia School 15, Project Nos. 10953, 10954, 10955 and 10956, and
WHEREAS such bids were duly examined and as a result the administration has determined that Abbott & Price, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid of $885,808.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Education hereby authorizes the Superintendent of Schools to award Bid No. 7116A General Construction Contract 1, for the “Building Upgrades – Part 2 of Playgrounds & Select Building Upgrades” at Montessori School 27, Kahlil Gibran School, Westchester Hills School 29 and Paideia School 15, Project Nos. 10953, 10954, 10955 and 10956 to Abbott & Price, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $885,808.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
