Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this contract was let for public and bids were opened in public and read aloud on July 10, 2020. Bids were examined and all due diligence observed in determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
CIP10812 includes the renovation of 8 former shop rooms into 10 SED standard classrooms, refurbished lighting in 6 stairwells, welding & painting the chimneys, sidewalk replacement outside the Arena and new roofing over the Music Room. The work was designed by Sammel Architects (CPL Architecture).
The apparent low bidder, SMAC Corp with a bid of $1,287,000.00 was granted permission to withdraw their bid after it was demonstrated that they had made mathematical errors.
The second low bidder at $1,573,000.00, APS Contracting, Inc. was interviewed to confirm they understood the project and their obligations and to ascertain their ability and willingness to do the job. As a result Schools Facilities Management are recommending the award of the subject contract to APS Contracting, Inc. CPL’s engineer’s estimate for this work is $1,882,900. |

Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS: bids were issued for public advertisement and opened on July 10, 2020 in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 for Bid No. IFB-6368B GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Work for the “Reconstruction of portions of the building” Project No. 10812 at the Yonkers Middle/High School, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result of this examination of the bids submitted the apparent lowest bidder, SMAC Corp with a bid of $1,287,000.00, was granted permission to withdraw their bid after it was demonstrated that they had made mathematical errors, and
WHEREAS: the second low bidder APS Contracting, Inc, with a bid of $ 1,573,000.00 was interviewed and determined to be the is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Bid No. IFB-6368B GENERAL CONSTRUCTION work, Contract for the “Reconstruction of Portions of the Building” CIP10812 at the Yonkers Middle/High School, to APS Contracting, Inc, 23-86 BQE West Astoria, NY 11103 in an amount not to exceed $1,573,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days. |
