Rationale:
|
This resolution is to grant the administration the authority to enter into the subject contract. In compliance with General Municipal Law 103, this was let for public bids which were opened in public and read aloud on March 5, 2021. A total of fifteen (15) bids were received, with the highest bidder at $2,096,500 with an average of $1,598.707. The work was designed by Eisenbach & Ruhnke Engineering PC (E&R) and was estimated to be approximately $2,500,000.
After interviewing the apparent low bidder and confirming that they understood the scope of work, their bids were found to be correct and confirmed references, E&R along with this Department is recommending the award of the subject contract to Benchmark Construction Group, Inc.
CONTRACT 1 of 5; GC Building Work includes but is not limited to complete renovation of all the bathrooms in the school, providing new public access handicapped accessible bathrooms near the gym and the auditorium, providing room signs for all the spaces in the building, repairing and patch painting walls, select window restoration, replacing exterior and select interior doors, upgrading door hardware, coordinating door controls to interface with the new security system and replacing the kitchen ceiling and freezer floor.
Overall, CIP 10874 includes the renovation of 23 restrooms, creation of two new unisex ADA units, upgrades to interior finishes (wall board), new ceilings in the kitchen, select window restoration, provision of “Places of Refuge” in stairwells, new Hi Tech Security system, select exterior & interior door replacements and new signage. Site work includes the installation of fire egress sidewalks and stairway for the north end of the building. This area is to be lighted with battery electric provided by solar and wind turbine power pole lighting. The project budget is $5.1 million.

WHEREAS: in compliance with General Municipal Law 103 public bids opened on March 5, 2021 for RFB 6583 Contract 1 of 5 General Construction, CIP10874 “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, and
WHEREAS: fifteen (15) bids were received and read aloud in public, and
WHEREAS: such bids were duly examined and as a result the administration has determined that Benchmark Construction Group, Inc., is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder at $1,029,000.00.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that Contract RFB 6583, Contract 1/5 HVAC Construction CIP10874, “Interior Renovations, Doors, Security and Site Work” at Riverside High School, to Benchmark Construction Group, Inc., 20 Broadhollow Road, Melville, NY 11747 for $1,029,000.00 for a term of 365 calendar days.
