Rationale:
|
By Resolution 15.9 dated March 16, 2022 the Trustees of the Board of Education authorized the award of Contract 2022-0756 for CIP 10878 “Phase I of Roof, Doors, Boiler Systems Replacement and Site Upgrades” to Abbott & Price, Inc. for $1,877,414.00 and a term of 365 calendar days.
This is to authorize the award of Change Order 1 in the amount of $66,818.42 increasing the contract to $1,944,232.42 and extending the term to be completed within 730 calendar days.
Change Orders COP-5-A, B, G, H, & P are owner directed extra work and this includes:
• Providing a temporary trailer for construction management support.
• Relocate 60 cubic yards of soil to fill soil eroded site conditions.
• Remove aging tall tree close to the school.
• Replace damaged and uplifting of 555 square feet of concrete sidewalks and 52 linear feet of concrete curbs.
• Paint 1000 linear feet of concrete curb for Fire Department markings.
The total value of owner directed extra work is $47,487.62.
Change Orders D, F, K, L & M are due to unforeseen conditions and this includes:
• Perform additional rock removal performed under 2 sperate work tickets PCOs K & N.
• Install a new concrete pad, concrete sidewalks and protective bollards for the new Temporary Above Ground Fuel Oil Tank which will be later be used for the new Emergency Generator being installed under Phase 3 of this capital project.
• Replace existing catch basing with new to accept new existing drains.
• Perform additional trenching, installation of storm piping and catch basin alterations to tie discovered storm piping.
The total value of unforeseen conditions work is $71,680.41.
Change Order COP-M & O are considered to be omissions by the AE (disputed). The existing grade elevations indicated on the site survey did not accurately reflect existing field conditions and required the contractor to regrade and remove and reset catch basins to meet the new elevations and to add a footing and support post for the driveway entrance card reader. The total value of this work is $22,650.39.
Change Order Q is owner directed deleted work taking a credit to not install tables and benches for the amount of $5,000.00.
The amount of extra work is $141,818.42 and less the contract contingency of $70,000.00 and credit in the amount of $5,000.00, a balance change order of $66,818.42 is required.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

WHEREAS: in the course of executing the contracted work it was determined that additional work was required to be performed, and
WHEREAS: the fee for this added work is for the negotiated lump sum price of $66,818.42, and
WHEREAS: the contract contingency of $70,000.00 and credit change order of $5,000.00 is to be allocated to this change order requiring a balance of $66,818.42 to be covered by additional funds increasing the contract amount from $1,877,414.00 to $1,944,232.42, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Schools is hereby authorized to issue Change Order 1 to Contract 2022-0756, CIP 10878, “Phase I of Roof, Doors, Boiler Systems Replacement and Site Upgrades” at Westchester Hills School 29 to Abbott & Price, Inc, 5, Schuman Road, Millwood, NY 10546 for $66,818.42 increasing the contract from $1,877,414.00 to $1,944,232.42 and extending the term to be completed within 730 calendar days.
